About Me

I have 22 years of experience in bio-identical hormone replacement therapy [BHRT] and the practice of functional medicine. I am passionate in my commitment to cutting edge anti-aging therapies, following emerging biotechnology companies for novel approaches to the chronic degenerative diseases of aging. Lengthening telomeres, upregulating DNA repair enzymes, and modifying gene expression are special interests of mine, as well as the use of energetic field devices for health and longevity. Investigating and testing bioenergetic and magnetic devices for their health benfits is one of my leisure pursuits. Effective anti-aging therapy must include environmental detoxification, evaluation and treatment of genetic weaknesses, and cellular regeneration in addition to BHRT.

Autoimmune disease is an area I have special expertise in, having access to a highly effective, safe nontoxic therapy from Europe available to only a few physicians in the US. This therapy involves monthly injections of short-chain amino acids, commonly referred to as “peptides” which alleviate pain and other symptoms, as well as causing a gradual drop in autoantibody levels in the blood, and eventually remission. Injections are available for allergies/asthma, atherosclerosis, osteoarthritis and aging as well as autoimmune disorders. Relief of pain and other symptoms is usually rapid with this therapy, often within 24 hours.

I am also an enthusiastic practitioner of several form of QiGong, an ancient Chinese energetic exercise discipline related to Tai Chi, and I encourage all my patients to adopt this practice.

I have been cited in three of Suzanne Somers’ books, Breakthrough, Knockout, and I’m Too Young for This, as a recommended physician for my work with bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. A life member of the College of American Pathologists, I support A4M, the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, and the Life Extension Foundation.

My Background

An early life fascination with the biological sciences led to my graduation summa cum laude from Rutgers University with a BS in biology, followed by my medical doctoral degree from UMDNJ- New Jersey Medical School, graduating in the top 5% of my class. My interest in diagnostics caused me to choose anatomic and clinical pathology as a specialty, studying at both Johns Hopkins Hospital and Beth Israel Medical Center. Board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, I began my career as a hospital pathologist and laboratory director, with additional experience in forensic pathology and medicolegal consulting.

As a famous poet once wrote, sometimes the best laid plans of mice and man go awry. A near fatal medication reaction left me with a life changing situation that allopathic medicine could not remedy to my satisfaction. I had been exposed to and joined the Life Extension Foundation in 1989, so I began to seek nutritional, herbal, and homeopathic solutions.

Also, an early menopause forced me to study and work out my own bioidentical hormone replacement protocol, one similar to today’s Wiley protocol. I was probably one of the earliest physicians to sign up with Women’s International Pharmacy, one of the most established compounding pharmacies in the country.

In order to fully embrace the gamut of natural medicine, from herbology and homeopathy to orthomolecular medicine and nutrition, and to use this knowledge for the benefit of others, a change of career was in order. My quest for a broad education in natural healing therapies led me to courses, conferences, clinics, and mentors, in many countries and many disciplines. Some of these therapies are still not widely known or practiced in the United States today. A few examples of the therapies I have studied include:

  1. Embryonic Organ Therapy, Derived from cow, sheep, and pig embryos, sourced from Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland, and New Zealand. Useful for aging and weight management, immune disorders and organ weaknesses, such as congestive heart failure and liver/kidney disease.
  2. Immunomodulatory therapy from Europe for aging, arthritis, atherosclerosis, asthma/allergies and all autoimmune disorders.
  3. Labolife homeopathic formulas from Belgium which modulate the immune system as adjunctive agents for patients with malignancies, immune disorders, and specific infectious diseases.
  4. Matrix bioenergetic devices from Russia, for general health enhancement and skin care.
  5. Bioenergetic devices from Germany including the Ondamed and the Bemer.

Thus, I have a broad armamentarium of therapies to draw upon and create individualized therapeutic programs for patients. My goal is to assist every patient in maximizing his or her health potential, utilizing these, and many other natural treatment modalities as effective, viable options to pharmaceutical medications, MINUS the toxic side effects of traditional drugs.
